Starting today, traffic on Albert Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction until wintertime.
The street will be under construction from City Centre Avenue to Booth Street and lane reductions will remain in effect until winter 2014.
The multi-year project, dubbed the Albert Street Sewer, Watermain and Road Rehabilitation Project, is expected to widen sidewalks and enable future segregated bicycle lanes. This cycle of construction includes installation of new sewers, a new water main and new pavement.
The city says bus routes 16 and 85 will continue using Albert Street, but existing bus stops may be temporarily relocated at certain times.
