A 54-year-old man was rushed to hospital with neck and back injuries Tuesday morning after being thrown from his motorcycle when he slammed into a guardrail in the city’s east end, according to Ottawa paramedics.

They said the incident happened in the Blair Road and Ogilvie Road area shortly before 6:30 a.m. The man is believed to have been going roughly 50 km/h when he lost control of his bike.

Paramedics said his status was listed as “high priority.”

An 18-year-old was also transported to hospital with head injuries and severely fractured legs after he hit a construction barrier Monday on the Aviation Parkway.

The teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Construction workers in the area called 911. At the time of the incident, the teen was in critical condition.

The westbound ramp from Highway 417 to the Parkway was closed due to the collision, it was re-opened Tuesday morning.
