A group of 26 co-workers from a Canada Revenue Agency office in Ottawa has claimed a more-than-$32-million lottery jackpot.
The winners went to Toronto this week to collect a Lotto Max prize worth $32,685,304.80.
Some of members of the group had retired from the office, but were still playing the lottery pool when their ticket came up lucky.
“It’s been a crazy weekend of talking to the group, convincing them this win was not a joke,” said Philippe Bussiere in a news release put out by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.
“I heard a lot of joyous screaming on the phone.”
While he had photocopies of the numbers when he realized their group had won, he said, the actual ticket was in a coffee mug on his desk at the office.
The members of the group are between 27 and 63 years old.
“This is the best journey ever for us,” said winner Lise Lafortune. “We are like a family at work, and this win is a wonderful treat.”

Philippe Bussière – Nepean
