A 51-year-old man is in hospital after the fingers on his right hand were crushed between a trash bin and a garbage compactor Friday morning, according to Ottawa Paramedic Service.
Paramedics said they responded to an emergency call on Laurier Avenue West shortly after 6:15 a.m. When they arrived, they notified firefighters that extrication equipment would be need to free the man’s hand.
They said they treated the man for severe injuries to multiple fingers on his right hand. He was in stable condition when he arrived in hospital and was awaiting plastic surgery.
Police are currently on the scene investigating the incident.
