A citizen who caught a break-in at a neighbour’s residence on video helped police nab a burglar they believe has been plaguing Hintonburg for the past month and a half.
The citizen turned the video over to police who made the arrest on June 7.
Michael Schmidt, 49, faces 15 counts of breaking and entering, five counts of possessing breaking and entering tools, three counts of attempted break and enter and two counts of obstructing a police officer.
The break-ins occurred between April 27 and June 6.
Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Break and Enter Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 4533 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).
