Coventry Road pedestrian bridge raising begins

Ottawa – Assembly of the new Coventry Road pedestrian and cycling bridge will begin on Wednesday, June 18. Prefabricated sections of the bridge will be hoisted in place onto four concrete piers that were installed along the Highway 417 last year. This work will result in short-term closures of Highway 417 and Tremblay Road on the following dates:

Wednesday, June 18 –Tremblay Road will be closed in the early morning, between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. Highway 417 will remain open.

Thursday, June 19 – Highway 417 eastbound will be closed for periods of up to 15 minutes in the early morning, between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. The Highway 417 eastbound on-ramp from Riverside Drive will be closed from 11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 to 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 19. Highway 417 westbound will remain open.

Friday, June 20 – Highway 417 westbound will be closed for periods of up to 15 minutes in the early morning, between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. The Highway 417 westbound on-ramp from St. Laurent Boulevard southbound will be closed from 11 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 to 5 a.m. on Friday, June 20. Highway 417 eastbound will remain open.

Saturday, June 21 – The Highway 417 westbound off-ramp to the Vanier Parkway will be closed from 11 p.m. on Friday, June 20 to 5 a.m. on Saturday, June 21. Highway 417 will remain open.

The Coventry Road Pedestrian Bridge will improve connectivity and accessibility between the Overbrook community and Ottawa Stadium and the Trainyards, the VIA Rail station and the future Tremblay Station of the Confederation Line light rail transit (LRT) project. The new multi-use pedestrian and cycling bridge will connect to the existing multi-use pathways along Coventry Road and Tremblay Road.
