Police have arrested a 16-year-old girl in connection with a series of gas station holdups by a thief brandishing a hammer.
According to police the suspect would enter between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. and ask for cigarettes. When the staff asked for payment, the suspect brandished the demanded the money from the till.
The incidents occurred June 7, 11, and 15 at stations near 3300 Fallowfield Rd., 2900 Woodroffe Ave. and 1400 Woodroffe Ave.
She was thwarted by the store clerk at the June 15 holdup. The clerk was also able to grab the hammer.
The suspect, who can’t be named under the provisions of the Young Offenders’ Act, is to be charged with possession of a weapon in the commission of an offense, wearing a disguise and breach of conditions.
