Ottawa - The City of Ottawa would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes for Canada Day Tuesday, July 1.

Client services:

  • Ottawa City Hall and all seven Client Service Centres, including the Government Service Centre located at 110 Laurier Avenue West, will be closed on Canada Day. The Metcalfe Client Service Centre will be open on Friday, July 4 (instead of Tuesday, July 1) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Business will resume as usual on Wednesday, July 2.
  • The City’s Provincial Offences Court, located at 100 Constellation Crescent, will also be closed on Canada Day. Business will resume as usual on Wednesday, July 2.
  • The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters requiring the City’s immediate attention. Call 3-1-1 or 613-580-2400 to speak to a customer service representative. For persons living with a hearing-related disability, call (TTY: 613-580-2401).

Garbage, green bin and recycling collection:

  • There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Canada Day. Canada Day’s pick-up will take place on Wednesday, July 2. In addition, the collection of green bin, garbage and recycling materials will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. For curbside collection enquiries, refer to the collection calendar tool.
  • There will be no multi-residentialcollection of bulky items, green bin and recycling container collection on Canada Day. Canada Day’s pick-up will take place on Wednesday, July 2. Recycling container and green bin collection will also be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. However, multi-residential garbage container collection is not delayed and collection will take place on its regularly scheduled day during the week of June 30.
  • The Trail Waste Facility is closed on Canada Day.

Parking:

  • All City of Ottawa parking regulations and restrictions will apply during this time.

Transit service:

  • OC Transpo is offering free service on Canada Dayand operating a special holiday schedule with extra service during the day and after the fireworks. The O-Train will run throughout the day and all evening until midnight. Routes 101, 102, 120, 123, 137, 150, 151, 161, 173, 178, 202 and all peak period routes will not operate July 1.   • The OC Transpo Information Centre (613-741-4390) will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Canada Day.
  • OC Transpo Customer Relations Department (613-842-3600) will be closed on Canada Day.
  • ParaTranspo is offering free service on Canada Day. A holiday service will operate July 1. Regular scheduled trips are automatically cancelled. Customers may book trips for Canada Day on or after June 23 by calling 613-244-7272.

Recreation services:

  • Some outdoor pools, indoor pools and fitness centres will be open on Canada Day for public swimming, and fitness classes, with modified schedules. Please check ottawa.ca or the facility of your choice for details.
  • All beaches, splash pads and some wading pools, will be open on Canada Day, weather permitting.
  • Most registered programs at swimming pools, community centres and arenas are cancelled on Canada Day; however, clients should check with their facility to confirm, as some exceptions will apply.

Ottawa Public Health:

  • The SITE Mobile Van will be operating from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Canada Day.

Cultural Services:

  • City Hall Art Gallery and OAG (Ottawa Art Gallery) Annex will remain open.
  • City of Ottawa Archives, arts centres, galleries, theatres and museums will be closed on Canada Day. However, clients should check ottawa.ca or their facility to confirm holiday hours, as some exceptions may apply.

Archives Services:

  • The City of Ottawa Archives Reference Services and Gallery 112 will be closed on Canada Day.

Municipal child care services:


Ottawa Public Library:

  • All branches, departments and services of the Ottawa Public Library will be closed on Canada Day, Tuesday, July 1. Regular hours will resume as usual on Wednesday, July 2.
