A 31-year-old Ottawa man has been arrested on charges of human trafficking after being on the lam for nine months.
Ottawa police issued a warrant for Ricardo Spence’s arrest on Sept. 18, but he managed to evade police until Tuesday when he was arrested by the Repeat Offender Provincial Enforcement unit.
Spence was charged with trafficking in persons by exercising control, financial material benefit, withholding documents, forcible confinement, assault, assault with weapon or imitation weapon and uttering threats of death or bodily harm.
Police believe there could be other human trafficking victims.
