Ottawa police asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in a series of robberies that they believe were committed by the same man.
In the first incident on June 5, a man entered a gas station in the 600 block of Bronson Avenue, near Chamberlain Avenue. He entered wearing a handkerchief over his face and carrying a large knife and demanded money. He fled with cash and cigarettes.
Police said the suspect has visited the place earlier and returned to commit the robbery.
In the second incident on Friday, a man entered a convenience store on the 800 block of Bank Street, near Fifth Avenue. He entered without a disguise, but then pulled a scarf over his face while inside the store. He demanded cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets, then fled.
In both instances, the robberies happened around 4:30 a.m. and there were no injuries reported.
Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian male, approximately 25-35 years of age, 5-10, with a medium build and short dark hair with a dark moustache and goatee.
