A 31-year-old naked man was arrested near Quyon early Friday morning after he led police on a low-speed chase using a farm tractor as his getaway vehicle.
MRC des Collines Const. Martin Fournel said the man hadn’t slept in days and was in a drug-fuelled rage when his father called police around 1 a.m. for help controlling his son. Police said they believe the man was in some kind of “psychological distress.”
When police arrived at the home near Cochrane and Clark roads, the man was in a car in the driveway repeatedly honking the horn.
As soon as the man saw police, he hopped out of the car and onto a 1973 Massey-Ferguson tractor, which he used to lead police on a low-speed chase through a trail near the house.
“Our officers were able to follow the tractor in the trail,” Fournel said. “He was going about 30 kilometres an hour.”
Police were able to arrest the man when his tractor abruptly stopped for an unknown reason.
The man was taken to to the Shawville hospital for assessment.
Police said the man could face charges of fleeing from police and breach of probation.
