The Royal Canadian Mounted Police will once again stage the showcase Sunset Ceremony in Ottawa this week in the lead up to Canada Day.
It’s the 25th anniversary of the ceremony, which features the Mounties’ famous Musical Ride performance as its centrepiece.
The ceremony runs June 25 to June 29 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Musical Ride Centre at 1 Sandridge Rd. The show goes on rain or shine, except in cases of extreme weather.
The ceremony also features a display of equestrian abilities, music from the RCMP/Ottawa Police Services pipes and drums and the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as demonstration by Ottawa Valley Search & Rescue Dog Association. A Kids Zone features a petting zoo, an obstacle course and face painting.
Admission and parking is free, but visitors are encouraged to contribute to the RCMP Foundation, an arm’s length charity that supports community work by RCMP officers.
