Ottawa – Ottawa Public Health has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory affecting some users of the Carp communal well water system. Water sample results indicate the water is safe for all consumption purposes. The advisory was issued due to a watermain break which affected approximately 180 homes.
It is important to note that water system repairs such as flushing activities can disturb sediments that are often present in watermain pipes. This may result in reddish brown or yellow coloured tap water, but discoloured water is not harmful. Residents are advised to run the cold water tap for one minute upon first use.
Residents on the communal well system do not need to get their water tested.
