Five people were injured, one of whom is in serious condition in hospital, after a multi-vehicle collision Tuesday on east-end Highway 174.
Ottawa paramedics and other first-responders were called to the crash in highway’s westbound lanes near the Champlain Road exit at around 11:45 a.m.
Paramedics said at least one of the vehicles involved received “serious damage” in the collision and ended up in a ditch.
A 68-year-old woman, who was treated for internal and head injuries, was rushed to hospital in serious condition. A 73-year-old man who was in the same vehicle suffered back and neck injuries. He is in stable condition.
A 54-year old woman was also injured and is in stable condition after she was treated for chest injuries.
Paramedics also assessed two men for minor cuts, but neither required care in hospital.
