Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Ottawa area Sunday morning, warning of high heat and humidity over the next few days.
On Sunday and Monday, daytime high temperatures are forecast to reach 30 C or higher, with the humidex making it feel in the high thirties.
In these hot and humid conditions, the agency warns, residents, especially those susceptible to heat stress, are advised to drink plenty of water and limit physical outdoor activity.
Sunday will be mainly sunny, with a high of 31 C, and UV index of 9 or very high. There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the evening and overnight, with risk of a thunderstorm.
Monday will bring a mix of sun and cloud, with a 30 per cent chance of showers early in the morning, and a high of 29 C.
