A hearing to sentence Public Works and Government Services Canada for safety violations related to a 2009 heating plant explosion that left a man dead has been adjourned until Wednesday
The blast, which blew open a boiler at the plant behind the Supreme Court of Canada, killed supervisor Peter Kennedy and injured two others.
Public Works pleaded guilty to charges laid by Labour Canada almost two years ago, admitting to failures related to the health and safety training of managers and supervisors.
A planned five-day sentencing hearing was due to begin Monday but the case will be finished Wednesday, indicating that an agreement has been reached between lawyers for the two federal departments.
