Two Ottawa beaches closed today due to elevated bacteria, rainfall

The city health department has thrown up the red flag for swimmers at Westboro and Petrie Island River beaches Tuesday.

Westboro is closed due to elevated E. coli bacteria counts, while the Petrie Island River site is shut due to rainfall.

Britannia, Mooney’s Bay and Petrie Island East Bay beaches remain open.
