Ottawa – With the official opening of TD Place at Lansdowne on Wednesday, July 9, Mayor Jim Watson and Roger Greenberg, Executive Chair of Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) signaled the beginning of the end of construction and redevelopment at Lansdowne.

TD Place – including completely new south stands and extensive renovations to the north side – is now open and ready for fans to fill the seats. Lansdowne Park, 18 acres of urban, public green space and amenities, will open on August 15 while the retail area will start welcoming clientele starting late this year. Residents will begin moving into the new condominiums in early 2015.

“The stadium opening is a major achievement,” said Mayor Watson, “and the City is excited to welcome residents and visitors keen to see a game or a concert and to be part of this new chapter in Lansdowne’s long history.”

With the Ottawa REDBLACKS and the Ottawa Fury FC ready to take to the field, Ottawa has a new home for major sporting events, including next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. The new south-side stands offer more than 10,000 seats, including 24 suites, concessions, locker rooms, CFL and soccer offices, and a new media box at the upper level. The venue is also fully accessible. Together with the renovated north-side stands, TD Place at Lansdowne will seat 24,000 spectators.

OSEG is also emphasizing the digital experience for fans. TD Place offers free WiFi for anyone in the stands as well as more than 400 HD screens throughout the stadium and an HD video scoreboard that measures 60 by 40 feet.

“My partners and I have been looking forward to this moment for many years,” said OSEG Chairman Roger Greenberg. “We would never have arrived here without the support of the City, the thousands of skilled tradesmen and women who actually built TD Place, and the thousands of football and soccer fans who support the REDBLACKS and Fury FC. Thanks to all of you for making this possible.”

"We're excited to be part of this milestone as we unveil TD Place," said Chris Dyrda, Senior Vice President, Business Banking, TD Bank Group. "TD is committed to supporting and investing in the communities we serve – and TD Place is a place Ottawa residents and visitors alike can come together to enjoy."

The City of Ottawa and OSEG are also teaming up to make sure there is a range of travel options to get to and from TD Place. On REDBLACKS game days, fans can take advantage of free “Park and Shuttle” options and secure bike storage. If you’re going to an event at Lansdowne this summer, we recommend your take transit, carpool, cycle or walk. Find out more at ottawa.ca and OttawaREDBLACKS.com.

As the site is completed, Lansdowne will be a vital link between neighbourhoods, connecting Bank Street to the Rideau Canal. New pathways through the park will make navigating the site simple and safe and will connect to the existing National Capital Commission pathways, uniting and making it easier for everyone to move freely through communities.
