Ottawa - The City of Ottawa’s Commemorative Naming Committee is conducting public consultations on a proposal to name a new park at 105 Southam Way as Panda Park.

Panda Park – (Gloucester-South Nepean – 22)

In recognition of the historical significance of the annual Panda Game between Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, the City of Ottawa has been asked to name a new park at 105 Southam Way as “Panda Park.”

Since 1954, Carleton University and the University of Ottawa have showcased their friendly rivalry in an annual football game that became known as the Panda Game, named after the mascot, a stuffed panda bear named Pedro.

The Panda Game galvanized loyalties for the two rival teams, attracted an average of 15,000 attendees and earned the reputation as the “game of the year”.
