Panda Park might soon be a real location you can visit in the City of Ottawa, thanks to the Ravens and the GeeGees.

The city is undertaking public consultation on calling a new Barrhaven green space Panda Park, in recognition of the annual Panda Game between Carleton University and the University of Ottawa.

The football game was held annually beginning in 1954 and attracted around 15,000 people every year. The game’s mascot was a stuffed panda named Pedro, who is now housed at the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

After 15 years without a rivalry panda game, Carleton’s football team was reinstated in 2013 and the two universities faced off once again.

People can submit their comments for naming the park, which will be located at 105 Southam Way in Barrhaven, until August 14 at namingottawa@ottawa.ca.
