While Citizen reporter Emma Loop is braving crowds and cars at the Redblacks’ first home game in nearly a decade, Joanne Chianello, Gord Holder and Samantha Wright Allen make their way to the game by foot, bike and transit.

3:35 p.m.: About a dozen fans dressed in Redblacks gear just stepped off an OC Transpo bus in front of TD Place. Things are still pretty quiet, but there’s no doubt that there is excitement brewing along Bank Street as couples and families dressed in red and white wander toward the stadium.
A quick soundcheck from inside the stadium plays upbeat pop music. Police are directing traffic in front of Lansdowne, which still looks to be very much under construction.
3:20 p.m.: We’re at Lansdowne’s pre-game party to witness the food, music and fans that are taking over TD Place in advance of tonight’s Redblacks game against the Toronto Argos.
