Rachel McAdams might have a deep family connection in Ottawa, but that tie will probably remain a mystery until her episode of TLC’s “Who Do You Think You Are?” airs in August.
McAdams, who was born in London, Ont., is best known for her roles in The Notebook, Mean Girls and The Time Traveler’s Wife. The reality show, which was nominated for two Primetime Emmys, gives celebrities an opportunity to delve into their family trees.
“To know who you are, you have to know where your story began,” says the narrator in one of the show’s sneak-peek trailers. Past episodes have featured singer Kelly Clarkson, actress Zooey Deschanel and actor Jim Parsons.
Snippets of the roughly 30-second trailer reveal little about what McAdams and her sister, Kayleen, were doing in the capital.
The first shot of them shows the two sitting in a room, seemingly shocked after receiving some sort of news. Next they are believed to be driving west along Wellington Street. In the rear window of the car is what appears to be the Department of National Defence building and the Rideau Centre. Her sister points at what appears to be Parliament Hill.
“There are so many stories here,” McAdams says in the video.
The new season premièred Wednesday and the episode with Rachel McAdams is slated to air next month.
