Ottawa - The City of Ottawa’s Commemorative Naming Committee is conducting public consultations on a proposal to name the new Strandherd-Armstrong bridge “Vimy Bridge”.

Vimy Bridge – (Gloucester-South Nepean – 22)

In recognition of the historical significance of the battle of Vimy Ridge, the City of Ottawa has been asked to name the new bridge, which spans the Rideau River connecting Strandherd Drive and Earl Armstrong Road, “Vimy Bridge”.

“Vimy Bridge” would commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War and the battle of Vimy Ridge, led by Canadians. It would also ensure the sacrifices made by troops in the First World War are not forgotten.
