A busy guns and gangs unit was investigating yet another shooting, Ottawa police confirmed Wednesday.
The unit was seeking assistance from anyone who might have witnessed the shooting of a 19-year-old man who was shot on the 1200 block of Donald Street in Vanier around 9:45 p.m. Monday.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Police would not confirm what part of the man’s body was shot, saying that was part of their investigation.
Because of the information provided to police by a complainant, the case was initially referred to the robbery unit. But police said it was determined after more information became available that it was a case for the guns and gangs unit and that that was the reason why the request for public assistance was not issued until Wednesday.
