A transport truck accident at 5:20 a.m. caused a fuel spill and major traffic diversion on Highway 417 on the eastbound lanes just east of the Nicholas exit.
OPP and Ottawa Police are currently on scene, and Ottawa Fire is there to handle the fuel spill.
All eastbound traffic is being diverted onto the Nicholas off ramp eastbound and Lees Avenue. The 417 eastbound is open at Riverside Drive.
This may take several hours. Police ask that the public avoid this area or make alternate travel arrangements.
