Unseasonably low temperatures and drizzling rain may not make for the most refreshing swim, but even if Ottawa residents felt the urge to take a dip in the river Thursday their options would be few.
Because of the rain, the city issued a no-swim advisory Thursday morning for every beach except Britannia. City staff are expected to be on site encouraging any persevering swimmers to keep to the damp sand.
Until Thursday, Ottawa Public Health had deemed the water quality good enough to keep all Ottawa beaches open for two straight weeks.
Heavy rains caused no-swim advisories at most beaches on three other occasions since the city started monitoring water quality in June.
