Ottawa – Today, the stretch of Churchill Avenue between Carling Avenue and Princeton Avenue has re-opened on schedule to two-way traffic.
Churchill Avenue between Princeton Avenue and Byron Avenue will remain open one-way only in the northbound direction, while work continues. Churchill southbound traffic will be detoured via Kirkwood Avenue.
Businesses remain open as usual along Churchill. Local traffic and business access to Churchill Avenue continues through local side streets.
Beginning on August 5, 2014 OC Transpo bus route 16 will be reinstated to normal routing (Dovercourt/Churchill/Clare), however bus route 150 detours will remain in effect until late fall 2014.
The Churchill Avenue integrated road, sewer and water rehabilitation project is a $21.4 million project that includes enhancement to the right of way such as raised cycling lanes, improved street lighting, traffic control signals at three intersections, traffic calming measures, concrete curbs and sidewalks, streetscaping, and utilities relocation.
The Churchill rehabilitation project is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
