A house fire Monday morning caused significant damage to a Stittsville residence.
Several neighbours called 911 when they saw heavy black smoke pouring out of a house on Lloydalex Crescent, Ottawa fire services reported.
When firefighters arrived at the bungalow, they found that a fire had extended from the back of a kitchen into the attic and was venting itself through the roof.
They received calls just after 10:30 a.m. By 11 a.m., the fire was under control.
No one was at home at the time of the fire. Firefighters were still investigating to discover the cause of the fire.
Damage was estimated at $300,000 to the building and $150,000 for the contents of the home.
