Ottawa – Mayor Jim Watson will join Barrhaven Ward Councillor Jan Harder to unveil date stones at the Minto Recreation Complex. The stones are salvaged pieces of Nepean sandstone that were originally quarried around 1878 and preserved from the reconstruction of the West Block of Parliament Hill.
Date: Wednesday, August 6, 2014
Time: 1 to 1:15 p.m.
Location: Minto Recreation Complex, 3500 Cambrian Road
Following the official ceremony, dignitaries and media will be provided with a “sneak peak” tour with photo opportunities. This is an active construction site and tour participants must have their own safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses and reflective vest.
The Minto Recreation Complex-Barrhaven will open in November 2014 and winter recreation programming will begin in early 2015.
