A 25-year-old Ottawa man has been charged in relation to three separate robberies at the same gas station, all while armed with a knife.

Adam Meathrell faces three charges for three thefts in the span of six days.

The suspect went to the gas station at Bronson Avenue and Somerset Street West on July 24, 27 and 30, in the early and late evening.

Police say the suspect acted alone and each time, with knife in hand, demanded cash from the clerk. In one instance, he took cigarettes too, but the amount of cash stolen was not divulged.

By the fourth attempt, on Aug. 1, the man was recognized by staff who contacted police while the suspect was standing in line.

Police arrived, and arrested him at the scene.

Meathrell appeared in court on Aug. 3 and remains in custody.

Police ask that anyone with information about these robberies call the robbery unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS) or toll free at 1-800-222-8477.
