Ottawa – Next week’s City Hall summer activities will be putting a unique foot forward when it presents a Chi Walking demonstration at noon on Tuesday, August 12, on Marion Dewar Plaza.
Chi walking combines walking with the alignment and relaxation techniques that are central to tai chi. It is a form of walking that overcomes the discomforts of walking incorrectly and prevents injuries. Chi walking consists of 12 different walks that help manage a person’s energy, ranging from aerobic to calming sessions.
The demonstration will be led by Dr. Barry Bruce, a physician from the West Carleton Family Health Team. He is a certified senior chi running and chi walking instructor, who will be providing an introductory demonstration. Participants will be given information on where they can find more library and online resources and training with a live instructor.
