Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is set to don a hard hat and visit Ottawa’s light rail transit tunnel Monday for a sneak-peak at the progress being made on Ottawa’s new transit system, according to Mayor Jim Watson.
The mayor tweeted Sunday evening that the premier and Ottawa-Orléans MP Royal Galipeau would be joining him for a “good news” announcement.
Politicians and dignitaries are marking a “significant milestone” in the construction of the Confederation Line LRT tunnel at noon Monday, a City of Ottawa press release said.
The event is being held at the west portal construction site at Albert Street and Commissioner Street, where attendees will be required to don hard hats, safety vests, safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
