Ottawa – The City of Ottawa will celebrate the start of Capital Pride Week with a rainbow-flag-raising tour of city facilities on Monday, August 18.
Run in partnership with City of Ottawa services, this annual event includes flag raisings with the police, paramedic, bylaw and fire departments, and OC Transpo. Mayor Jim Watson will conclude the tour at 4 p.m. at City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West, raising the pride flag and proclaiming Pride Week in the City.
The tour will include a pancake breakfast and barbecue lunch. All activities are free of charge. A double-decker Pride Bus will be available as a shuttle between the day’s events.

6 to 10 a.m.
Police Headquarters, 474 Elgin Street
All donations will go to charity.
OC Transpo Flag Raising
10:15 to 11 a.m.
Articulated Bus Dispatch Building, 745 Industrial Avenue
Bylaw and Regulatory Services Flag Raising
11 to 11:30 a.m.
Bylaw Headquarters, 735 Industrial Avenue
Ottawa Fire Services Flag Raising and Barbeque
Noon to 1:45 p.m.
Fire Headquarters, 1445 Carling Avenue
Goodwill offerings will be accepted.
Ottawa Paramedic Service Flag Raising
2:15 to 3:15 p.m.
Paramedic Headquarters, 2465 Don Reid Drive
Event-goers will have the opportunity to refresh their CPR skills and learn the seven steps to emergency preparedness with volunteers from Security and Emergency Management.
Official Proclamation and Flag Raising
4 to 4:20 p.m.
Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West
Mayor Watson will officially proclaim Pride Week in the City of Ottawa.
The annual Capital Pride parade will return the following weekend, Sunday, August 24, starting at 1 p.m. The parade will impact traffic along portions of Bank Street and Laurier Avenue. Several City departments, including all the departments listed above, will participate in the parade. Mayor Watson will ride on the Ottawa Public Health float.
