Police seek help in finding man suspected in two bank holdups

Ottawa police are seeking public assistance in tracking down a suspect believed to be responsible for two robberies in which the verbal threats were used.

On Tuesday, a man wearing a construction hard hat, reflective vest and pyjama bottoms entered a bank in the 200 block of Centrepointe Drive at about 1:50 p.m. and brandished a handgun, and aggressively demanded they turn over cash.

He was given an undisclosed amount of money, which apparently wasn’t enough as he vaulted onto the counter and demanded more.

He fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

On Tuesday, Aug. 5 at about 9:35 a.m. a man wearing a handkerchief or like covering over his face entered a bank on the 900 block of Carling Carling Avenue.

He demanded money from an employee and was given an undisclosed amount of cash. He demanded more cash when the first amount wasn’t enough.

Although the suspect threatened to hurt employees if they did not comply, there were no injuries.

The suspect as male with a dark complexion, five-feet-sic-inches to five-feet-eight inches tall, 200-220 pounds with a stocky build, a moustance and/or goatee and longish hair.
