Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a hit-and-run collision in Wendover, Ont., just east of Clarence-Rockland, in which one person was injured on Monday.

Just before 3 p.m., police said, a blue Mazda hit a Kia while passing it on County Road 17. The Kia then hit a truck that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The woman who was driving the Kia was injured, but her injuries were not life-threatening, police said. She was the only person inside the vehicle, and no one else was hurt in the crash.

The Mazda fled the scene, said police, who were searching for the vehicle. It is described as a blue, two-door hatchback Mazda 3 with some damage on the driver’s side. Police said they believe the driver was a man.

The vehicle fled eastbound from the Wendover area.

Police said that County Road 17 was closed following the accident. Travellers were being advised to avoid the area, though a detour was set up between county roads 25 and 19.

Anyone with information about the Mazda or its driver is asked to contact the OPP’s Hawkesbury detachment at 613-632-2729.
