Ottawa – Representatives of the Province of Ontario, the City of Ottawa and the East Nepean Little League opened a seasonal multi-purpose sports building today in South Nepean Park.
The Government of Ontario and the City of Ottawa each contributed $195,000 to the total project cost.
The Honourable Bob Chiarelli, Ontario Minister of Energy and MPP for Ottawa West-Nepean, Mayor Jim Watson, Councillor Mark Taylor, Chair of the Community and Protective Services Committee, Barrhaven Ward Councillor Jan Harder, and Bruce Campbell, President of the East Nepean Little League were on hand to cut the ribbon, and Councillor Harder lit the new electronic scoreboards for the first time.
“We can all be very excited that the excellent work of our community partners, the East Nepean Little League is bringing a world-class sporting event for our kids in Ottawa,” said Minister Chiarelli.
Among its features, the Eagle’s Nest Building offers media facilities that will be used as a broadcast hub for national media during the August 2015 Canadian Little League Championship, which will be hosted by the East Nepean Little League.
“Ottawa is delighted to host the Canadian Little League Championship in our city next year. These new facilities will help showcase Ottawa’s strengths as a world-class sport and athletic venue, attract visitors and stimulate the local economy,” said Mayor Watson.
The features of the Eagle’s Nest Building include:

- Areas for media and scorekeepers to observe baseball games on two diamonds
- Two scoreboards to serve each diamond
- Storage space for field and maintenance equipment, sports equipment and uniforms
