Description:S.i. Systems on behalf of our valued not-for-profit client is urgently seeking an experienced Network and Storage Administrator for an immediate requirement in central Ottawa
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for managing systems, LAN, WAN, storage, and associated resources and services. Working closely with database administrators ensuring database systems and processes are closely monitored and operational.
Responsibilities
• Participate in the design, and architecture of infrastructure projects. Ensure that the design conforms to high availability and security standards of the production infrastructure.
• Daily monitoring, support, maintenance, tuning and health checks of the corporate systems, networks, storage and infrastructure (both physical and virtual) in a very busy, rapidly growing, geographically distributed environment.
• Lead and support infrastructure projects and initiatives as assigned. Manage capacity and provide proper planning for future growth.
• Respond to service requests, incidents and problems; perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures. Assume ownership for incidents and problems. Work with other team members and third parties to identify and resolve root cause issues.
• Conduct audits and maintain network and infrastructure security standards and principles.
• Develop, maintain and communicate standards and documentation for use, operations, backup and security of infrastructure.
• Provide SQL application and administration support in coordination with the DBA.
Qualifications
• Strong experience in network administration, monitoring and performance measurement tools.
• Strong experience in design, implementation, clustering, replication, high availability, multi-pathing and performance tuning of enterprise storage solutions SAN/NAS.
• Strong experience in design, implementation, troubleshooting, high availability, performance tuning of virtual infrastructure.
• Strong experience in backup/restore operations with focus on network storage appliances.
• Ability to take direction and work independently with high level of initiative without constant supervision
• Excellent analytical, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
High competence in the following systems, tools and technologies:
• LAN/WAN/VLAN/VPN
• Switches, routers, firewalls (Cisco and HP)
• Load balancers (F5)
• VoIP and PBX systems
• NAS/SAN (EMC, HP)
• VMWare (vSphere 5.x, ESXi, vCenter)
• MS Windows Server 2003/2005/2008 (OS, AD, IIS, FS, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell)
• MS SQL Server 2005/2008; SQL Power; SQL Backup
• MS Exchange 2010
• MS SharePoint 2010
• Linux, Apache, MYSQL, PHP, Mail, SSH
• Monitoring tools (SCOM, SCCM, OPNET, Tripwire)
• Back up tools (Symantec BE, Redgate, VDR)
Education, Certifications and Experience Requirements:
• 7+ years of relevant work experience in a large scale environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is considered an asset.
• Professional certifications in network, system storage administration / systems security are a plus
• ITIL certification is considered an asset.
