Ottawa – Effective Sunday, August 31, new fall schedules go into effect on most routes, and some routing changes will be implemented.

Fall service highlights include:

  • Route 6 service increased and rerouted to operate between Tunney’s Pasture and Hurdman Station
  • Route number 76 is retired from service on August 29
  • Route number 72 providing service between Barrhaven and downtown will commence service on September 2
  • Route 96A will be extended later this fall, when road construction permits, to serve the new Tanger Outlet and reduce walking distances and improve connections for residents in Arcadia
  • Route 101 extended to Place d’Orléans in rush hour to replace Route 102, which will be cancelled
  • Route 174 expanded to operate several trips on Saturdays and in both directions on weekdays for improved community connections
  • Route 182 rerouted to reduce walking distances and improve service to west-end employment centres in Kanata North and Abbot Point of Care
  • Improved schedule reliability on Routes 37, 85, 101, 105, 123 and 261
  • Service improved and crowding reduced on Routes 4, 5, 7, 8, 30, 94, 95, 96, 99, 105, 111, 130 and 144 by increasing the number of trips or by using higher-capacity buses during the busiest times

Seasonal schedule adjustments will be made on many bus routes. Customers should check their route schedule at octranspo.com or octranspo.mobi. The special summer-weekends-only service to the Aviation and Space Museum on Route 129, to the Agriculture Museum on Route 185, and to Petrie Island on Route 198 will be suspended after Labour Day.

O-Train service adjustments continue

Late-evening service adjustments will continue into the fall in preparation for expanded service later this year. As well, service on some weekends/weekdays may be adjusted for critical testing, commissioning and training, which must be performed during daylight hours. Further information regarding dates will be posted on our website and at stations, or you can sign up for email alerts at octranspo.com. Temporary bus Route 107 will replace the O-Train during service adjustments.

Students

Full-time university students can get their new 2014-15 U-Pass on campus. Eligible elementary and secondary students will receive their student pass at school. All other full-time students ages 13 to19 can get a student discount set on their PRESTO card at an OC Transpo Sales and Information Centre with proof of eligibility. Check octranspo.com for details about eligibility.

Labour Day

On Monday, September 1, OC Transpo will operate a Sunday schedule, so only routes that normally run on Sundays will be in service. DayPasses will be valid as a family pass on August 30 and 31, and September 1. A family of up to six people, with a maximum of two children ages 13 or older, can ride all day on one $8.10 DayPass. Holiday schedules are available at octranspo.com. OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres and the Transit Information Call Centre will be open.

Para Transpo will operate a holiday service on Labour Day. Regular scheduled trips are automatically cancelled. Customers may book trips for Labour Day by calling 613-244-7272 on or after August 25.

Transit riders are reminded to give up their seat to those who need it. The seats at the front of the bus and in the middle of the O-Train are designated as cooperative seating and are intended for customers who use a mobility device, or for those who may have difficulty standing in a moving vehicle.

Schedule information is available 24 hours a day, up to six days in advance, by calling 613-560-1000 or texting 560560 plus the four-digit bus stop number. For more details, travel planning assistance and new timetables, customers should call OC Transpo at 613-741-4390 or visit octranspo.com.
