Ottawa – Starting Tuesday, September 2, Highway 174 will be reduced to one lane in the vicinity of the Quigley Hill Road intersection, during off-peak periods (9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Construction crews will be flagging to direct traffic during the lane reduction, which is expected to last for two months.
The speed limit will also be reduced from 90 km/h to 70 km/h within the work zone. Motorists are reminded to respect the reduced speed limits and use caution when travelling through construction zones.
The Quigley Hill Road Intersection Improvement is a $900,000 initiative to improve safety and traffic flow at this intersection. This work will involve widening the roadway along Highway 174 to provide a new dedicated westbound left-turn lane with a slip-around lane to permit continuous traffic flow through the intersection. The existing dedicated eastbound right-turn lane will also be widened and lengthened and upgraded rails and lighting will be installed.
This project is an Ottawa on the Move initiative. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs. For more information, visit ottawa.ca.
