The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is investigating a Perth property after an anonymous tip expressed concerns about livestock conditions.

SPCA responded to the tip about the Scotch Line Road property on Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by Ontario Provincial Police.

Care for a variety of different livestock, including sheep, goats, rabbits and chickens was being investigated, Insp. Scott Sylvia, a spokesperson for the SPCA, said.

None of the animals had to be removed from the property, and the owner was co-operating with the SPCA to take steps toward resolving the issues, Sylvia said.

He could not confirm what kinds of issues were being investigated, saying only that the environment and conditions for livestock were being evaluated and that the investigation was ongoing.

He said provincial police were on scene as a standard precaution to keep the peace and ensure public safety.

Anyone wishing to report incidents of animal cruelty can contact the SPCA at 1-888-668-7722.
