A fatal collision early Sunday evening on the tracks near Carlsbad Springs in east Ottawa meant 119 passengers en route to Ottawa from Montreal traveled into the city by bus.
Train number 59 struck a trespasser on the tracks near Russell Road at around 6 p.m., said spokesman Malcolm Andrews.
The tracks will be closed for three other Via Rail trains scheduled for Sunday evening, he said, and passengers would make the trip by bus instead.
The collision meant about an hour-and-a-half delay into the city, Andrews estimated, and said passengers headed to Toronto would also travel by bus.
There were no reported injuries to passengers or crew members.
Andrews said the tracks should be open again for the Monday morning trains.
