Ottawa – This weekend, from Friday September 5 at 7 p.m. till Monday September 8 at 6 a.m., Prince of Wales Drive from Crestway Drive to Fallowfield Road will be closed to allow construction crews to replace a concrete culvert that passes under the road at Winding Way. A signed detour will be in place.
During all other times, one lane in each direction will be maintained and lanes will sometimes shift onto the existing gravel shoulders.
This is the first of three planned weekend closures of this section of Prince of Wales to facilitate this work. Closures are also planned for the Thanksgiving weekend (October 10-13) and the last weekend of October (October 24-27). The work is planned to be completed by the end of November.
This work is a part of the Prince of Wales Bridge Culvert Project, a $3.2 million investment to replace the existing 36m-long concrete box culvert, which carries the East Creek under Prince of Wales adjacent to Winding Way and discharges into the Rideau River. The culvert being replaced was built in approximately 1940.
