More than 5,000 marijuana plants from indoor and outdoor grow ops, more than six kilograms of dried marijuana, firearms and cannabis production equipment were seized last week in the Outaouais region, according to the Sûreté du Québec.
With help from RCMP and Canadian Armed Forces, SQ police officers raided several properties and arrested six people on drug trafficking charges.
It’s part of Operation Cisaille, which translates as “operation garden shears,” an annual late-summer blitz organized by the SQ since 1999 to combat marijuana production and trafficking in Quebec.
This year, the operation is being announced as “version 2.0.” In previous years, police had focused on large outdoor grow ops. Now, both outdoor and indoor plants are being seized, making it a larger operation.
Investigations continue in the Outaouais region, and police said they expect to make more arrests.
