The sentencing hearing for the 17-year-old ringleader of an Ottawa teen prostitution ring begins Tuesday morning.
The teen was convicted of more than two dozen charges, including human trafficking, producing child pornography and abduction of a child under 14 years of age.
Prosecutors are seeking an adult sentence for the girl, which would result in a mandatory minimum sentence of five years.
If the 17-year-old is sentenced under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, three years is the maximum sentence for human trafficking.
The girl was one of three defendants in the notorious case, but the only one who had pleaded not guilty.
The three girls were arrested in June 2012 on a total of 74 charges.
