The Ottawa police and RCMP joint bomb disposal team responded to a west-end school Wednesday morning after a man driving a “low-risk” package to a police station was told to pull over.
Police were first called at 7:32 a.m. after a package was found in a shopping cart at a Wal-Mart store.
The man who found it decided to drive it to a police station, but was told by a dispatcher to pull over.
The closest place for the man to pull over was in the parking lot of D. Roy Kennedy Public School at 919 Woodroffe Ave.
As a precaution, the school was put into “safe” mode.
The Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) unit was called to the school.
More to come …
