Belleville police arrested a man on the campus of Loyalist College earlier this week after the student was reported as being in possession of a knife while at the school.
A police liaison on campus said the man did not brandish the weapon or utter any threats in the incident Tuesday.
However, when he was moved to a secure area away from other students he allegedly became confrontational and resisted arrest. Police used pepper spray to subdue the man. Officers on scene received minor injuries as a result of the scuffle.
Shane Patrick Sabourin, 24, of Carleton Place, faces weapons-related charges, as well as charges related to assaulting police officers, resisting arrest and being in possession of a controlled substance.
