Ontario Provincial Police say a 20-year-old woman was killed overnight in a single-car crash on Perth Road, south of Perth Road Village, about 150 kilometres south of Ottawa.
Police were called shortly before midnight after a local volunteer firefighter spotted car lights in a small body of water beside the roadway.
He swam out to assist and was able to cut the driver’s seat belt, pull her from the badly damaged car and bring her to shore. Two other citizens helped remove her from the water and administered first aid.
She was taken to Kingston hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The name of the victim is been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
