Police are investigating after a 10-year-old boy bit into a small Snickers bar and discovered a sewing needle.

The child was uninjured, police said in a release Saturday night. He made the discovery around dinnertime.

The Snickers bar was part of his Halloween collection. The boy did his trick-or-treating near the Thistledown area of Barrhaven, police said.

No other tampered candy was discovered.

Police are reminding parents to carefully screen their children’s Halloween candy and to alert police about anything suspicious.

The discovery comes a day after police announced a “small, sharp needle resembling a sewing needle” was found in a potato bought from an unnamed grocery store in south or east Ottawa.
