Perhaps fittingly, Ottawa’s own Autumns Cannon will be the first band on stage at the new and improved TD Place for a free show Saturday night, Nov. 15, for the annual Rock for Public Services concert presented by CUPE Local 503 and CUPE Ontario.
The Jim Cuddy Band headlines the event at the hall formerly known as the Civic Centre, and in between is one of Canada’s most critically acclaimed singer-songwriters, Kathleen Edwards.
“This great lineup will put us back on the map as a city with a first-class downtown venue for mid-size arena shows and large-scale stadium shows,” said Mike Cerha, TD Place vice-president.
Rock for Public Services is a free concert that CUPE 503 stages in Ottawa to celebrate and promote the importance of public services.
“This event has also been a very successful forum to raise much-needed funds for some great Ottawa charities. At the end of this seventh annual concert, we hope to have raised over $150,000 for local charities” said Brian Madden, CUPE 503 president. For the second year in a row it will be a fundraiser for The Royal with the funds supporting youth mental health.
Rock For Public Services at TD Place is free for everyone of all ages. No tickets are required for the event, seats are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited paid parking is available at the site.
