A hacker known as Aerith misappropriated two websites that he’s been using to spread messages about his attacks on numerous Canadian targets.

After being contacted by the Ottawa Citizen on Tuesday a man who is the actual owner of the websites that Aerith has been using deleted all contents on the websites and changed his passwords. He said he would be contacting the website registrar this afternoon in order to find out how Aerith was able to get access to his domain names and use them.

Aerith has been using the websites idfuck.it and natev.me to post press releases about his targets.

Before the plug was pulled, Aerith had posted a message saying “To answer your questions, yes, we are behind the banana attack on ottawa.ca. Would you like to contact us,” then he posted his email.

The removal of the webpages came after the hacker issued a statement to the media Monday evening. “We have prepared a lot of documents and will start releasing them to the media, directly, via email,” the statement says.

“We are the ones whom took out the Supreme Court, Ottawa Police, City of Ottawa, Toronto Police, Laval Police and more. We will be taking out more in the coming days, and we will not stop.”

In response to emailed questions from the Citizen, the hacker claimed to have emails and data from the police website.

“We are planning on releasing part by part.”

It should be noted that Aerith has apparently not actually hacked any websites, outside of the two he stole from the man in Oklahoma. He was granted access to the City of Ottawa’s webpage after a text chat with a less-experienced network technician. Aerith posed as a city official and lied about his identity to gain access to the site.

More to come.
